I recently finished reading A Work In Progress by Connor Franta (memoir) and here is my review :
I was a bit sceptical about reading this as it was a "Youtuber Book" and I hadn't really heard upbeat comments. I decided to give it a go anyway.
I want to start this off by saying I'm not really a "fan" of Connor, I like the guy but I only watch a video every now and again. When I picked up this book, I thought it may only be people who know him who would like it, but I think you could enjoy it even if you're not familiar with who he is or what he does.
This book is great for all ages, it doesn't matter if your 14 or 40. If you're a younger person reading this then it's great because it tells you a lot of good advice and experiences which you can learn from but if you are on the older side it's great because it helps you look back on your life.
I found that this book really helped open my eyes and see the world and life in a different way, with all of Connor's inspiring quotes and tips it really made me feel motivated for once and it made me feel as if I could take over the world. (Oh, okay.. maybe not that far.)
Even though Connor is made out to have a "perfect life", this book really shows you that no ones life is perfect - everyone has their ups and downs.
One of the things I really liked about this book was that it was written as if Connor was speaking directly to you which gave a really personal feel.
Connor tells you about his different struggles with his sexuality, body image and growing up into this important adult figure. He tells you who he is and about the journey on how he found that out.
This is a genuine and honest read and I found that I really enjoyed it and I hope you do too!
