HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In the month of December I managed to read a total of 8 books and one graphic novel (which is not pictured),which totals to an amount of 2774 pages! This might not sound like a lot, but I'm pretty proud of it as I have been busy. Anyway, let's have a look at the books I read this month!
Let's start with the 1 graphic novel I read.
My Little Pony : Equestria Girls by Ted Anderson, Katie Cook, Tony Fleecs and Andy Price
I requested this on NetGalley from the publisher/author in trade for a review, so I do therefore have a review for it, which I will link in a minute.
Anyway, this was my second ever graphic novel and I did really enjoy it, though I think I'm still trying to get into the whole graphic novel thing, which explains my lower rating.
If you don't know, this graphic novel features the gang from My Little Pony and it has two different stories in it. One of these is about five of the girls, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy and how they became friends. The girls are asked a question and it shows each girls' answer. It really gave you a better idea about each character and definitely added more depth to the friendship between the five girls.
The second story is about the same five girls, but also Sunset Shimmer. Sunset is new to the school, so the girls take her in and try and make her happier, especially as it's coming up to Christmas. The girls decide that it would be fun for each girl to host a sleepover at their house and invite Sunset along to join them all and help her settle in. However, secrets and photos from the nights end up travelling around the school and the girls all suspect Sunset. The girls start investigating to prove who it really is?

When I said that I read 8 book this month, well I didn't exactly. I finished 8 books, just didn't read all of them in the month. The one book that I didn't completely read in December was The Martian by Andy Weir, which I only read the remaining 200 or so pages that I didn't read in November.
I do already have a review and a favourite quotes blog post up so I will link them down below.
Anyway, if you don't know what this book is about it's about a crew of Astronauts, who are part if a Mars exploration mission. When a sandstorm hits, the crew all rush to get the ship back off, however, one Astronaut, Mark Watney, gets injured and the crew assume he's dead. The storm is picking up and they can't waste anymore time otherwise they could all end up dead or stranded on Mars. They leave, but surprise! Mark Watney is alive, and now also stranded on Mars! This book captures all the struggles and problems he may have as he fights to survive until the crew can come back and get him. Did I mention that won't be for a few years? Yep, he is alone on Mars for a few years, with a lack of food, water and basically everything else you need to survive. Will he survive?
Also, this book is being turned into a movie. Actually, it's already out in cinemas and I believe it comes out on DVD on February 8th in the UK. I'm not sure about everywhere else, but I'm guessing it's either before that date or close to it.

Teen Idol by Meg Cabot
As some of you will know, I recently read The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot and really enjoyed it. I was in my local charity shop and I saw this and instantly picked it up because since I had read The Princess Diaries, I had really wanted to explore more of Meg's books. Anyway, this only cost 50p and I turned out to love this one a lot more than TPD.
If you haven't heard of his before, it's about a girl called Jenny. Jenny is great at keeping secrets, which is why she was chosen to be the school newspaper's anonymous advice columnist. She's that good at it, that when Luke Striker (a huge movie star) comes to the school undercover to research for a role he will be playing, she's the one who has to lead him around the school and prevent anyone from finding out his true identity. However, Luke doesn't make her job easy and soon everyone at school, the local newspapers and everyone knows his true identity. Chaos starts and Jenny is stuck right in the middle of all of it.

The Boy Next Door by Katie Van Ark
If you follow me on twitter (@sprinkleofbooks) then you will know that when I was reading this I was really enjoying it and I originally gave it something like a 4.5/5, but after having time to think about it, it didn't really leave me with anything. It just wasn't as good as I originally thought it was, so I have lowered the rate because of that.
This book is about Maddy and Gabe, two teenage ice skaters. They've always skated together since day 1 and they both love each other. They haven't told each other and they can't really have a relationship anyway in case it damages their ice skating relationship.
Gabe's also the type of boy, who mucks around with every girl in the school. He's never had a relationship that's lasted longer than two weeks.
Gabe and Maddy get together, but will they stay together or will they permanently damage their skating careers?

All Wrapped Up by Holly Smale
This is a new wintery novella to the Geek Girl series. Most of you will probably know that Geek Girl is one of my favourite series of al time. They're just such fun and easy reads, which every person can enjoy.
Anyway, when I heard that Holly was bringing a new novella out, I knew I had to get it and read it, but I wanted to wait till it was nearer to Christmas. I finally read it and I loved it as I do with every Geek Girl book.

The Wolf Wilder by Katherine Rundell
I do have a review up for this, which I will link below.
This book is about a young girl called Feo, who lives with her mother in a large, snowy area in Russia. They are wolf wilders. Rich people keep wolves as pets and when they no longer want them, they are sent to Feo and her mother, Marina. It's their job to teach the wolves how to be wolves again. They teach them how to run, how to hunt and how to defend themselves up against over threats. When they are fully taught, they are then released into the wild to live the rest of their lives as wolves.
One day there's a knock at the door. It General Rakov, the second in command to the Tsar. He threatens Feo and her mother. He tells them that they must shoot the wolves after they are untamed, as one of the newly released wolves killed an elk off of their land. However, it is unlucky to shoot a wolf, so Feo and her mother refuse. The man hurts Feo's mother and leaves, promising that if he sees Feo with a wolf he will shoot the both of them and if they refuse to kill the wolves, he will burn down their house.
He does just that and Feo and her mother have to run, but her mother is captured and kept at the prison. Feo along with three wolves (Black, Grey and White) and a friendly soldier is on a journey to rescue her mother.
I found this book to have a good storyline and characters, but the pace at times dragged a bit, but overall it was a great read.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
Yes, I finally read City of Bones! WOOHOO! *celebratory dance*
I absolutely loved it as well. I cant believe it took me so long to read it! Why didn't you guys tell me to read it sooner.
Anyway, this series is about a girl called Clary, just a normal teenager. She's at a club with her best friend Simon, when she sees a group of people following someone into a storage cupboard. Simon and everyone else seems to be oblivious to the people, apart from Clary.
She decided to follow them. It turn out to be three people, dressed all in black and armed with weapons Clary has never even heard pf. They are called Shadowhunters and the other guy in there is completely the opposite. She tries to stop them killing him, but they just laugh at her. He ends up dead anyway and Clary is told that he's a vampire or a werewolf (I can't remember which). All the people disappear and Clary is left in the storage cupboard till her friend Simon comes in with security.
She decides not to tell anyone what she saw, but the next day she sees one of the Shadowhunters again. He's been following her. Then in the next couple of hours, her mother disappears, she nearly gets killed by a demon and her apartment is basically destroyed.
Then to top it all off she wakes up in a completely different place and is introduced to a world that's been hidden from her, here entire life.
I don't yet have a review up for this as I'm planning on doing a full series review.

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare
After reading City of Bones, I just had to read City of Ashes. Just like City of Bones, this didn't disappoint!
There's not really much I can say apart from it's the second book in TMI series and a continuation of Clary in the Shadowhunter world. If you ahvent yet read this series, I really recommend that you do as it's definitely worth it, well from what I've read anyway.

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) by Cassandra Clare
This is the third book in TMI series and out of all three, I found this one to be the hardest to get into and some parts nearer to the beginning were slightly boring, but that didn't last for long and it did turn out to be amazing in the end like I knew it would be.
Some people may not agree with my rating, but despite the slowness at the start I still really enjoyed this book and therefore I'm going to give it a...
