Mini - Review : The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester
In this book is a world. A world created by two awkward guys who share their lives on the internet!
We are Dan and Phil and we invite you on a journey inside our minds! From the stories of our actual births, to exploring Phil's teenage diary and all the reasons why Dan's a fail.
Learn how to draw the perfect cat whiskers, get advice on what to do in an awkward situation and discover which of our dining chairs represents you emotionally. With everything from what we text each other, to the time we met One Direction and what really happened in Vegas...
I am a subscriber to both Dan and Phil and also their gaming channel, etc. Therefore, I didn't even have to think about getting the book, it was more of a case of when I would. Luckily, I got it a lot sooner than I originally was, as my mum brought it me for my birthday (I will be posting a birthday book haul soon!).
I could feel a reading slump coming on, so I picked this up hoping it would bring me out of it and it did just that. I practically read this is one sitting, it was that entertaining (well obvs it would be, its Dan and Phil).
The book is made for people, who watch them and already know quite a bit about them. It's a bit like a scrapbook (sort of), which shows Dan and Phil's lives and how they got started on the internet and what they've created. Therefore, I don't really think you would understand it that much if you don't have a clue who they are.
I felt as if I was expecting a bit more from it though. It felt like a just more condensed version of their videos but in book form. Don't get me wrong, there were new bits (for me anyway), but I was just expecting more. Maybe it was because my expectations were so high, I don't really know. I was hoping it would be more of who they are, not just the boys in the cat whiskers.
I did appreciate the book for what it was though, it contained every tiny, cringey, nerdy part of them and that just made it special to me. It showcased what I love about them and that was what I was looking for.
Despite my minor problems with it, I do recommend this book if you are a Dan and Phil fan/viewer.
